  • Packing up the blog?

So, I've been contemplating moving my blog-life over to blogger. This is actually a pretty huge decision for me as I've been on Xanga since August 2004!! I mean, that's some serious commitment. But I've just been realizing that I could do a lot more stuff over there. Xanga is a bit unwieldy... and I don't really know anyone with a xanga anymore.

I've been using blogspot for a few years now for other types of blogs. Like, I have one that's a book blog... I have one that I wrote to Lindsay and Jonathan while they were overseas... I even had a short-lived weightloss blog (like all the cool weight watchers kids do).

So yeah. I'm trying to decide. Does anyone have any opinions on the matter?

(And if you're reading this via Facebook, I'm sure you don't care one way or the other! :))

  • And then I got sick...

So, after Grant's wedding festivities, I've been dealing with illness stuff.

One of the first news items I heard when I got back to work Monday morning was about the Swine Flu (or H1N1, as it's supposed to be). There's a school that I work with near the library for basic outreach stuff - which is always fun *sarcasm*. I had visited the school a few weeks before for a career day thing. That was before all of this sickness buzz.

That morning I heard that IS 238 was closed due to the number of students out for "flu like symptoms." This wasn't the first school to do that - there were probably 12-15 of them that morning. But here's the thing... I got really paranoid. Sometimes I think I have hypochondriac tendencies... and this news took me into hypochondriac mode. Then a little later I heard that there had actually been a death at IS 238 that was directly related to the Swine Flu stuff! If that's not enough to make anyone paranoid... I dunno what is. Here is the article that was on NY1 that morning.

I already had a 40oz bottle of hand sanitizer on my desk at work because of all the germy children running around. But dang it if it didn't fail me! I got sick.

Not swine flu sick, but I was definitely worried. I was taking my temperature every, like, thirty minutes. I did end up taking a day off of work because of it - I figured a day of rest and such would help... and it did... a little. I pretty much lived on Sudafed and popsicles. Really, really good popsicles. :). Luckily the fever only lasted two days - so I went back to work and just kinda rode it out like a good little girl scout. haha. Well, that and I had a three day weekend (w0000t!).

A week later, I'm still a little ill... but nothing that won't go away eventually (which is what I keep telling myself as I cough on customers).

  • Grant's Wedding!

I have needed to update for more than a week now. I know, it's just like me to not update for months at a time... And it's been a semi-interesting week! I'm gonna have to break this down into bits so it's not so daunting :). First bit:

My little brother got married last weekend!

Aren't they so cute?! Anyway, Jim and I flew down to Nashville a few days earlier - to help with getting stuff done - and just cause there were dinners/parties/etc to attend :). All of which were wonderful, of course. The food was good, the company was fun, and the atmosphere was excitable. As always, weddings are pretty hectic, but mom, mo and I found some time to get mani/pedis. This was my first time :). haha. I might become addicted, though... so that's dangerous.

The rehearsal dinner was on Friday night - and I think it went off smashingly. Sharon Johnson did the catering (an old family friend), so everything was pretty much perfect. Oh - I need to plug her new restaurant, Southern Bred! If you live in Nashville, you have to try this place. Absolutely. It's a bit off the beaten track, but it's very much worth it. So yeah. Go! Ahem, back the the rehearsal dinner... I always get nervous when people stand up to do toasts (especially my family)- I get so worried about what they're going to say! But everyone did a wonderful job and it was a really fun night. See?

This is Grant and Megan hugging the other's dad after their kinda odd toast!

On Saturday, we had to start out a bit early. There were, of course, lots of pictures to be taken before the ceremony, so we did a lot of waiting around.

But the girls were fun to talk to, so all was well. The wedding went perfectly - the music was mostly choral... and it was beautiful! The only slight problem was the rain. As the ceremony started, the rain POURED outside. Luckily everyone was in the church (for the most part)... I just wish it had stopped when the ceremony was over. That would have been a bit more manageable. :). Guess we didn't get our requests in on time. Alas.

And the reception was a lot of fun as well. I didn't feel like I got to chat with many of the other guests until then. But we took lots of pictures and I got to see some people I haven't seen since, like, high school. So that's always fun :).

(Well, not these people... this is my brother's and their wives!)

You know, all in all... it was just a really fun weekend in Nashville. Yeah, it was a bit stressful at times, but nothing that couldn't be handled. And ps... Moriah and Blake's blog have some fun pictures as well. Mo is so good at doing the collages... I'm always tempted to copy!
    ____________________________________________________________________________
So now that I've reached the end of that update, I think I'm going to have to wait on the rest of the stuff. Perhaps tomorrow. This is already too long as it is. Until then, I suppose!

  • Razzles Rock

The vending machine at work has finally given me something to be excited about. They have officially started stocking the machine with RAZZLES!!!!

     Razzles

YAY!! I have to say that I've not had anything more fun than Razzles lately :). I mean, Twizzlers always make me happy, but they're awful for you. So yeah. Razzles! Though, while I was searching online for that pic, I realized there are different flavors of Razzles that I haven't tried. I'm distraught. I'm now on a hunt for the other kinds.  If you find them, it's pretty much your duty to tell me about it.

I've kinda decided that Razzles are going to be my cure-all for anything swine flu related. Well, that and pondering the rubber gloves/mask route. I just figure that no evil can be around when Razzles are involved.

Oh, something swine flu related... I saw this on someone else's blog a little while ago.

  • Busted heads and such

I was just realizing how long it's been since we've had real rain around here. I mean, for the past... forever... it's come down as snow or something else solid. But lately it's actually been raining... like - need rainboots - raining. Speaking of which, I haven't busted mine out yet.

Of course, if I had worn them this morning, I wouldn't have almost busted my bum on the train this morning. Yeah, I almost fell on my face... which is always awesome. Apparently the shoes I chose for this morning have zero grippy stuff on the bottom. Wet, flat shoes + slippery train floor = Emily almost falling on her face.

Luckily the train was pretty well empty. I'm always heading away from the heavy traffic areas, so I get a pretty quiet ride to work. So yay for less unpleasant! But that would also mean less witnesses if I were to bust my head open - as I almost did this morning. To be a bit morbid - I wonder how long it would take for someone to stop the train if that happened? Ahem. Gloomy days = gloomy thoughts... sorry.

I've had plenty to rant about lately, but it's all work related. And me thinks it might not be prudent for me to voice those rants here. In a public space. Where anyone can read them. So yeah. Otherwise life is same-ole. Here's to wishing I had more news for ya. :)
